Recommendations for Christmas

Hi readers!

In this post, taking into account that the christmas are around the corner I’m going to recommend you two films to watch and one book to read. The two films I’m going to recommend you are “Handia” and “Un monstruo viene a verme” and the book I recommend you is “El niño con el pijama de rayas”

I am going to start recommending the film “Handia” that was premiere on the 20th of october 2017 in Spain. Is directed by Aitor Arregi and Jon Garaño.

The film goes on for 114 minutes and is not recommended for children under 12 years old.

This film is based on real events. Tells the story of two brothers, Martin and Joaquin.
Martin, that is the older brother, returns to his home to Gipuzkoa after having fought in the First Carlist War, and discovers that his little brother is the highest man of that time measuring more than two meters. A cause of that they travel to exhibit through Europe. But finally the fame, ambition and money changed their destiny forever.

I recommend this film because the story of the protagonist was real, he was so high. I like films that are based on real histories an basically I recommend it because of that, because is a good way to know about real things that happen near us.

The other film that I recommend you for watch is “Un monstruo viene a verme” this film was premiere on the 7th of october 2016 in Spain. It is directed by J. A. Bayona and written by Patrick Ness based on his novel the same name.

This film goes on for 108 minutes. Is not recommended for children under 12 years old.

Tells the story of Conor, a child whose mother is terminally ill; Conor is a 12-year-old boy who lives a situation that prevents him from leading a normal life. The young man suffers from unbearable school bullying. That is why Conor has built a fantasy world to escape the harsh reality. However, this universe will take shape one day in a real monster that visit you in your room.

I recommend this film because his mother's illness is so hard an a lot of people suffer this. Is not hard only for them, as you will see in the film the child also suffer on his own and a the school also a cause of his classmates.

Finally, I am going to recommend you a book called “El niño con el pijama de rayas”  or in English “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”. This novel was written in 2006 by John Boyne.

Bruno is the protagonist of the story and he is 9 years old. He lives with his parents, his 12-year-old sister Gretel and maids, one of whom is called Maria. One day, Bruno decides to explore the strange wire fence. As he walks along the fence, he meets a Jewish boy named Shmuel, who he learns shares his birthday. Shmuel says that his father, grandfather, and brother are with him on this side of the fence, but he is separated from his mother. Bruno and Shmuel talk and become very good friends, although Bruno still does not understand very much about Shmuel and his side of the fence. Nearly every day, unless it's raining Bruno goes to see Shmuel and sneaks him food. One day Bruno concocts a plan with Shmuel to sneak into the camp to look for Shmuel's father. Shmuel brings a set of prison clothes (which look to Bruno like striped pyjamas), and Bruno leaves his own clothes outside the fence. As they search the camp, both children are rounded up along with a group of prisoners on a "march"...

I recommend this book because in my opinion is so beautifull the friend story of the two boys. I like also because like this I know how was the Jewish life, that was so hard.
